Tell about yourself - your personality, lifestyle, etc.
I'll be honest...I do not have a great deal of free time. I work a part-time midnight job, go to school ianother part of the week and work another part-time job during the day, all to make ends meet. I do not have much in the way of free funds. (Those seeking a sugar daddy...good luck, he ain't me). All I can offer is what you see and the promise that I will focus on the time we can share.
I like to laugh. I find humor in both the gallows and the slapstick. Life isn't a sitcom, you wring it's essence from it's fabric and savor the vintage, be it bitter or sweet.
My Chinese zodiac animal is the dog. I am like that, loyal to my friends and family and very protective of them and theirs.
I am rather quiet until I am comfortable with the people I am around. I am not shy, but my sense of timing and quirky sense of humor has taught me to avoid opening my mouth too early...I got tired of the taste of my foot.
I enjoy hunting in the fall. Experiencing the quiet of nature for the few days I can get away renews me. (The fact that I'm looking to put food in my freezer doesn't detract from the rejeuvenating aspect of nature). Yes, I am the NRA.
One last thing about me. I am tactile in my relationships. I am given to holding hands in public, and ambushing with kisses and spontaneous acts of affection. I am not necessarily successful at being romantic, but I can only be what I am, and that I will offer to the right woman unconditionally.
What kind of person are you interested in meeting?
A lady who understands that we may not have much time together, but will strive with me to enjoy it to the fullest, even if it is a few minutes of quiet together on the couch before one of us has to leave for work/the day/whatever makes us separate.
One who can be honest with me.
One who can deal with my "odd" sense of humor (pun alert!).
One who can have a relationship with me, understanding that I am working for a better future for not only myself, but also the future of the family I want to eventually have.
What sort of relationship would you like at this point in your life.
I am looking for a friend and a lover, not a friend with benefits, but a woman who will grow with me and hopefully one day become my wife and the mother to our children
Which is your favorite religious holiday? How do you like to observe/celebrate?
Christmas...To me it is the day that celebrates family. My family spends the day together as best we can. If we are near enough, (we live may miles apart), we will attend Mass together. Oftentimes, it has just been my younger sister and me at Midnight Mass.
How important a role did Christianity play in your life growing up?
I was raised in the Catholic faith. My faith was shaken by the loss of my mother in my teens and I was not interested in practicing my religion for a long time. I believe the values I was instilled with as a boy (charity, respect for others and a need to serve my fellow man) have stayed with me throughout my life. I suppose I have tried to live my faith rather than practice a religion.
How important a role does Christianity play in your life now?
I have had some tough times, and I have recently re-discovered the connection between the religion of my childhood and my faith within. While I cannot attend Mass every Sunday, I do try. The community at St. Michael's in Sterling Heights has welcomed me with open arms, and I now have a feeling I have missed for a long time, hope.
Name some of your all-time favorite music / movies / TV / books.
Music: Classical, 80's, Punk, Jazz, some Country.
Movies: Star Wars (I-VI), Inherit the Wind, Highlander, Enter the Dragon
Books: The Callahan series by Spider Robinson, David Drake's Hammer's Slammers, Heinlein's Starship Troopers and Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot and Broca's Brain (a collection of his essays)
What type of work do you do? Do you enjoy it?
I work in the radiology department of a hospital's emergency center. I do enjoy it. I have the opportunity to try to bring a measure of comfort and peace to those in pain.
What do you enjoy doing for fun?
As my nick suggests, I love books. Science fiction primarily, but titles and authors will catch my eye, no matter the subject. Bookstores are my version of candy stores. One thing I particularly enjoy is prowling through used bookstores. I enjoy going to movies, museums, parks, camping (again with the time constraint), amusement parks, renaissance faires (I'm not Scottish, but I do have a kilt) and sitting down with friends. I believe I am easygoing
and enjoy the time I can share no matter the activity.
What do you hate doing?
I try to be a forthright person. I do not tolerate mind games. Life is entirely too short to waste on them.
Tell about where you grew up or where you are from.
I spent the majority of my formative years in Michigan.
Do you have pets? Tell about them.
No. We cannot have them where I live. I like dogs, but appreciate the independence of cats. Fish are great for the blood pressure, but stink at playing fetch.
What would you say is your best virtue?
I try to be patient and understanding, so...my evolving sense of compassion.
What was the most daring / wild thing you have ever done?
Ask me again once we've met. I do have a past...;)
What terrifies you?
Dying without leaving a lasting mark on this world.
If you were on a deserted island, and you could choose 3 items to take, what would they be?
(A solar charger, a GPS unit and a satellite phone)
1. A good knife
2. The Bible (maybe I'd be able to read it through finally)
3. My True Companion
Your ultimate intimate dinner party would include which 3 guests (dead or alive)?
Ronald Reagan, the current Dali Lama and John Paul II
How is your physical shape? What do you do to keep in shape?
I am not as physically active as I would like to be. I have a bike, rollerblades, walking shoes...but don't use them save for pleasure due to my hectic schedule.
While looking at a person’s profile, following the picture, what are the first things you look for?
1. How they try to portray themselves in the description boxes. If they put forth an effort, I continue to look.
2. How important sex (read also as intimacy) is to a woman. (I have gotten "frost-burned" before). As I stated earlier, I am a physically affectionate man, and a woman who can't stand the thought of me wanting to touch her, even if it is not in a sexual way, isn't right for me.
What else should we know about you?
I enjoy cigars. I do so about twice a month.
Finally, if you've reached the end of this and do not think me a pretentious ass, or an ogre, I thank you. I am new to "the online experience," and am trying to express who I am in the most honest way possible. I enjoy making new friends, and hope to make many here.
Cheers!
